About Blossom Thyme!

Blossom-Thyme Dairy Goats began in 1994 when we purchased two Nubian kids, a doe (Buttercup) and a wether (Pepsi). They were not bought with the intention of showing, but rather for brush control and companionship for a lonely horse.

In the fall of 1994 Kayla joined a 4-H club. The club's leader Lisa Gardner (Whisper'N'Pines), a well known breeder of Toggenburgs, was an inspiration to her and that's how our story began. Kayla purchased her first Toggenburg doe in the summer of 1995, although she was bred by a fellow club member, she contained Whisper'N'Pines bloodlines. Fuchsia, a "Jaguar" daughter, earned her GCH and a LA score of 90 and served as Kayla's showmanship doe for 9 years. They attended several ADGA Nationals along the way, placing 2nd as a team in Iowa in 2003. Fuchsia was retired in the Fall of 2005 and sadly crossed over the "Rainbow bridge" at the age of 15, in 2010. Kayla sold her Togg herd in the fall of 2005, as she headed off to college, attending the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau.

Kim joined in and took over the Nubian herd after Kayla switched to the Toggs. When the show string grew larger, I (Judy) joined in (in whites), and was hooked. However, as with many herds the kids (2 legged)  grow up and move on.   As I said before, I am hooked and will continue on showing the herd joining the "moms without kids club," (I know I'm not alone). I enjoy the time, however, when  the girls and now also the grandson "Carson" are able to come and help at home and at the shows.

Our Nubian bloodlines today consist mainly of Lassenwood, Kastdemur, Copper-Hill, Remuda and My-Enchanted-Acres. With the use of Artificial Insemination (AI) we have been able to add in Wingwood Farm, J&R Spirit's and M's Sagebrush, and will continue to add new genetics through the use of AI.

We have participated in DHIR and Linear Appraisal programs since 1998 and are ADGA PLUS members.

HERD HEALTH
We maintain a strong "Pathogen Prevention Program". Our kids are pulled from their dams at birth and are fed heat treated colostrum and pasteurized milk as we feel strongly about pathogen prevention. We maintain a 100% Neg. CAE/CL herd. We continue to do CAE testing annually through WSU, last tested 3/7/2024.

Our whole herd is currently G6S normal by testing or parentage. We will continue to test as needed for unknown status of sires are used live or via AI.
